In this 3-day seminar, you will learn how to write and present marketing research reports that are responsive to management needs. Specifically, you will learn:
  • What decision makers want from a marketing research study and how to bridge the communication gap between researchers and decision makers.

  • How to analyze your audience and to organize your report to meet the varying needs of senior management, middle management and the technical staff.

  • How to link research data to management decisions and information needs, and how to write an interpretive rather than a descriptive report.

  • How to select words, sentences, paragraphs, language, format and graphics to convey the message quickly to decision makers.

  • How to avoid/correct numerous specific flaws commonly found in marketing research reports.

  • How to present your research findings succinctly to decision makers so they will listen and act upon your recommendations.

WRITING THE RESEARCH REPORT: Getting started with the rough draft. The various components of the research report. Overall composition, paragraph and sentence structure, and word choice. HANDLING PROBLEMS IN STANDUP PRESENTATIONS: Reducing presentation anxiety. How to build speaker credibility. Facilitating interaction. Using non-verbal techniques to increase effectiveness. Checklist for making effective presentations. How to handle different problems during presentations.

WORKSHOP ON CONSTRUCTING ACTIONABLE PRESENTATIONS: Team workshop to use background, business and research objectives, action standards, and graphs from Sessions II and VI to prepare for team presentations.

TEAM PRESENTATIONS: Standup presentation of the results from a marketing research study under realistic time constraints. Assessment of team presentations and suggestions.
